Wood Structure

Stairs

SE Woodwork Designs | Professional Carpenter & Joiner

Stair case Alteration (Example 1)

Originally a painted staircase that we refurbished with a combination of solid oak and veneered boards.

Then the finishing touch of glass balustrade to create a modern open feel and compliment the doors, linings, skirting and architrave previously fitted!

The old handrail cut in to the ceiling which not only made the use of the handrail uncomfortable but visually broke up the clean line of the handrail and created a messy arrangement for the spindles.

To remedy this, we increased the newel posts and offset the handrail, moving it away from the ceiling.

We also reduced the thickness of plaster behind the handrail to maximise space.

This has been a big improvement visually and practically.

Stair case Alteration (Example 2)

Oak staircase with Spindles

Originally a dark stained staircase with turned spindles, transformed into an attractive Oak staircase with nice clean lines and some lovely grain patterns.

The newel posts have been over clad, as have the stair strings and apron, then new Oak handrail, base rail and spindles have been installed.

Finishing trims have been machined to achieve the preferred profiles and required lengths without joints, this is not always achievable with standard trims and mouldings.
